Recommended Reading
Below are some great books I think you should be reading - Marelna
Bernadette Brady – The Eagle and the Lark
The Eagle and the Lark is a must have predictive astrology book. Bernadette Brady has a clear and detailed approach to analysing the chart for predictions (the Eagle) but also impress on you the importance of using your intuition (the Lark).
The book is clearly laid out by covering the basics first; how planets, angles, houses and transits function in predictive astrology, and what orb size to use to get more exact predictions.
Once you have the basics down, you can develop a time map and how to create the story from there. What is the scene set in life, who or what is going to come along? Is it a thunderstorm or a fog that never quite seem to lift? How will this affect the main character, when will it start, when will it end? Will the thunderstorm flood your house and create a rebuilding exercise or will it have a greater effect where you decide to move?
There is also a very good section in the book on Saros cycles, which will give additional information regarding eclipses to the same natal point i.e. how will an eclipse in your second house affect you differently now that it did 9 years ago.

Secrets from a Stargazer's Notebook: Making Astrology Work for You by Debbi Kempton-Smith
This is an excellent book for beginners, "How to read those shocking squiggles in your chart" is covered in the first section. You can buy a copy of your chart using the buy button above to accompany to the book.
The second section of the book focuses specifically on explaining what the planets mean in a sign or house. This will give you an indication of the charts natal potential, and with a dollop of the writer's sense of humour, a very entertaining insight into yourself and others.
Section three has some everyday applications of astrology including a section on Horary Astrology. Horary astrology is an attempt to get an answer to a specific question by creating a chart for that moment in time. This is a very complex area of astrology, but the author breaks it into a few simple steps and proceeds to make it a lot of fun. Watch out though, you can only ask the question once.
If you are looking for a fun introduction into astrology, entertaining your dinner guests or trying to figure out how to wrap your boss around your finger then this is book is definitely the way to go.
