Until the Libra Equinox, the Sun (
), indicative of our essence, is in Virgo (
). Virgo represents our quest for wholeness, integration of body and spirit and sacred service. Originally the word, ‘virgin’ referred to a woman who was independent, unmarried and complete unto herself. The Vestal Virgins initiated men into sexual mysteries and served as healers for men returning from war.
The Virgo-Pisces polarity symbolises the integration of body and soul – matter is spirit incarnate. ‘We are spirit in form, love made flesh, eternity playing with time and space.’ Stephanie Austin As our evolutionary pace quickens, the Virgo within gently insists that we take care of ourselves physically, mentally and spiritually. All aches and pains are indications that a part of us is demanding attention. Have appreciation for the brilliantly designed work horse you inhabit!
September is the 9th month – a gestation period - and it often happens that projects that had their inception in January are finally grounded or at last come to fruition (or are discarded!) in September. Forgiveness, compassion, empathy and the inner strength to let go are features of the 9. The ancient name for the numeral 9 is MYSTERY: to celebrate the mystery of life is to have trust – trust that things are exactly as they must be in order to teach you what you need to know to fulfill your purpose.
On 30 August Jupiter (
), representing your capacity to have faith in your inner (and outer, hopefully) abundance, joined the retrograde brigade (Uranus, Neptune and Pluto have all been burrowing towards the heart for some time now). Vey often while Jupiter is retrograde experience will have it that you either (temporarily!) lose hope or find ways in which to take any adversity and change it into an adventure – many leaps of faith, no less! Your choice.....

Pluto (
), Lord of Change, turns direct on the 16th at 4° 53’ Capricorn (
).You have had five months (since 8 April when Pluto turned inward) to identify what you have to let go of. How well you’ve done in terms of the bigger picture will now be put to the test. In Capricorn, Pluto insists you reclaim your power and accept the consequences of your choices. Life is a package deal: you cannot have it all but you can have what you need most – the secret is to define what that might be.
Until Mars (
) ingresses Leo (
) on the 19th, Uranus in the first degrees of Aries (
) is the only planet in a fire sign. Fire creates warmth, faith, optimism, idealism and energy. With much fire our transformation is accelerated. With not much fire in the heavens you may be feeling lethargic and not at all sure about which direction to take – what would truly fire you up; your enthusiasm may take a back seat to (what you experience) as the relentless drudgery of life.
On the 17th The Sun squares (vehemently activating) the 15th June lunar eclipse. Two days later, on the 19th Saturn, planet of prudence, responsibility and limits reaches 17° 14’ Libra (
), the point where it turned retrograde on 25 January: everything you’ve been working with or whatever goals you have been trying to achieve will be tested against your sense of reality. You will especially be evaluating how far you’ve come in truly living your beliefs in your relationships, - intimate and otherwise – and to what extent your daily interactions, your communications, behaviours and activities, reflect your emerging philosophy of life.
When we enter a new age – something we do every 2000 years - we are compelled to make a leap of understanding, a shift in consciousness. We tend to be identified with how we think things ought to be. A shift in perspective does not mean taking on yet more thoughts, but rather emptying your mind so that the new has room to enter.
This is a month of re-valuation: allow yourself the time to decide whether you are in tune with yourself, whether what you are creating for yourself is fair and realistic? Let go of what you find stifling or disempowering: ‘Fear less, hope more; eat less, chew more; whine less, breathe more; talk less, say more; love more and all good things will be yours.’ Swedish proverb
