Celestial Notebook Overview July 2009

‘Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go.’ T. S. Eliot

In Gemini we are taught not to get bogged down in anything for too long: since we live in an ever-unfolding Universe where change is the only constant, we might as well keep moving. Gemini enables small changes to occur – life’s little detours – that eventually culminate in a large scale evolutionary shift.

Light-hearted Gemini (Gemini symbol) helps us interact with one another, though not intimately so and we do need a real sense of deep connection – this is where Cancer takes over: Cancer (Cancer symbol) is the zodiac’s first sign that brings us in contact with our soul. When the Sun (Sun symbol) is in Cancer we sense that something potent within moves us to want to protect all in life that is vulnerable and needs protection.

The keywords for this month are openness, receptivity and vulnerability; caring in action – especially for yourself – is the theme.

Venus (Venus symbol) and Mars (Mars symbol) have been travelling through the same signs since April. This is very rare as Venus moves much faster than Mars, and only occurred as a result of Venus’s retrograde motion. As the month dawns, they are in Taurus (Taurus symbol), but soon first Venus (5 July) and then Mars (12 July) lightens into Gemini.

With the Sun and Mercury (till the 17th) in Cancer and Venus and Mars in Gemini, the Universe conspires to create situations in which you will be able to observe yourself reacting and, with a little awareness, change outworn habit patterns – especially in relationships – and this includes your relationship with yourself.

Cancer is a cardinal water sign and has difficulty shutting off its emotional faucet; with both Venus and Mars in Gemini, an adaptable (mutable) air sign, however, it will be much easier to experiment and to view life from different angles. It appears that humanity is ready to apply an entire set off fresh values, especially in respect of a new balance between masculine and feminine and in line with the ideals of the New Age we are moving into: freedom, equality and unity in diversity. (I will say much more on the inner male and female in the Daily Guides.)

On 22 June the New Moon at 1° Cancer was a SuperMoon (having a huge effect on our inner tides) and on 22 July the New Moon is a total Solar Eclipse, marking major beginnings and endings. Two consecutive New Moons in one sign underline the cosmic imperative of something new emerging in that sign. Cancer is about integrating your experiences within a framework that reflects your individual being, letting go of your conditioning and creating a firm inner basis to operate from.

There are two eclipses this month: a lunar eclipse (a mama of a Full Moon) on 7 July at 15° 24’ Capricorn (Capricorn symbol). The Sun represents your left brain – your logical and analytical abilities – whereas the Moon (Moon symbol) symbolises the right brain – the intuitive, imaginative part of your nature. When the Moon moves into the shadow of the Earth (•), we experience the Moon directly, without the reflected light from the Sun. With our rational side in check, we are able to make gut insights and view matters from a different perspective.

All Full Moons are oppositions and call for compromise: with Capricorn (Capricorn symbol) and Cancer (Cancer symbol) involved the questions may be: how can I find a healthier balance between work and home? How can I take responsibility for myself and have a caring relationship? (See the Daily Guide for more information about how this eclipse would affect you.)

Solar EclipseAnd that’s not all.........on 22 July there is a total solar eclipse on 29° 27’ Cancer (Cancer symbol). When the Moon momentarily blocks the Sun and the solar emissions are prevented from reaching earth, energetic matrices shift more easily: patterns are dissolved, karma is balanced and life in general is reconfigured.

The most important aspect of this eclipse is that it is 150° away from Pluto (Pluto symbol), The Cosmic Composter – it denotes slow rebirth and much internal processing. Pluto insists that your deepest unconscious urges become conscious and you may not like what you see – welcome to the human race!

On 21 July 1990 there was a solar eclipse in the same degree: What was important to you then? What were you experiencing then and how could you apply your experiences of that time to ease your processes now?

The slower a planet moves, the more its cosmic volume is turned up. On 1 July Uranus (Uranus symbol), The Awakener and ruler of Aquarius, is stationary retrograde (seemingly reversing against the background of the stars) at 26° 37’ Pisces (Pisces symbol). Uranus is about shaping your individuality, a celestial alarm clock, awakening you (sometimes rudely) to the aspects within your nature which have been lying dormant and untried.

Wherever Uranus is retrograding through your chart, is where sudden disruption of your accustomed flow of affairs is bound to happen, your original intentions are thrown off course and the matters concerned suddenly break down. Invariably you have to find innovative ways of dealing with situations. Keep in mind that Uranus is putting you in touch with your needs for personal freedom and self-expression that may have been unrealised up to now – and that you perhaps never knew you had! You are been given another opportunity to get out of a rut and contact that highly unique part of yourself and seek fresh approaches to your growth.

With Jupiter, Chiron, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto all retrograde, we’re in for a few surprises. When planets are retrograde their processes often erupt or implode erratically. Your interior world seldom meets your expectations of the outside world - there are always adjustments to be made between what you feel inside and what you experience outside and retrogression magnifies the interior experience.

Aura Soma bottle 87All this adjustment is necessary in discovering just exactly who you are, irrespective of your environmental mirror.

Bottle 87, pale coral/pale coral, in the Aura-Soma range of 107 jewel-like bottles is called Love Wisdom. Applying the contents of this bottle supports us ‘To be able to see ourselves beyond the reflection of self. The wisdom of love.’ It’s worth a try!
