Celestial Notebook Overview February 2007
Until the 18th of February the sun, representing both our ego and our divine essence, is in the sign of Aquarius. This is a fixed air sign: air is the element that connects us all. We may not be aware of it every minute of the day, but the air that fills our lungs and cells connect us to even those we would choose not to be connected to.
Aquarius is the sign of the rebel, the individualist in us all. Aquarius and conformity: they mix just about as well as nuclear warheads and peace. This is the time of year when we resonate with the keynotes of the French Revolution: liberty, equality and peace. This is not the time of year to be invisible, it is a time to stand firm when your freedom is challenged. Go beyond your social and cultural conditioning; ask yourself with merciless honesty, ‘what is true for me?’ As you get in touch with your inner truth you may feel like an exile as your friendships, your relationships, your very hopes and goals come under scrutiny.
The secret is to understand the true meaning of interdependence: to live your own life, to give and receive from your centre. It is time to take a good look at where you are not receiving; this is where you are not giving of yourself as you may be living someone else’s life.
On 14 February Mercury, the Messenger of the Gods turns retrograde in Pisces (seemingly reversing against the background of the stars). This is a period when communications of all kinds may be muddled, travelling could prove trying and the standard astrological warning is not to sign agreements at this time. This happens because our minds are turned inward and we don’t always pay attention to detail. Perhaps we could lighten up and not take ourselves so seriously; rather spend the time creatively planning a future that suits your needs in all respects. Mercury turns ahead again on 8 March when it will be all systems go. Watch this space…
On 17 February there is a new moon at 28 degrees 37 minutes of Aquarius. At a new moon we need to formulate clearly our intentions. Moving into the Age of Aquarius we need to decide what it is we want for our future: you create your own reality and concentrating on what you want will bring it a little closer.
The Sabian symbol for 29 Aquarius is ‘A butterfly emerging from a chrysalis’, the keyword is ‘metamorphosis’. This symbol emphasises that we need to radically alter our patterns of everyday living and the types of relationships we become part of.
For most of this year Saturn and Neptune are opposite each other in the signs of Leo and Aquarius; more about this aspect next month. Suffice it to say that we need to allow ourselves more time to clarify our values and give form to our inspiration. Remember why you are here and focus on what is needed for your dreams to come true.
‘Again and again, a voice commands us to get out of the rut, to leave bag and baggage, to change cars, change direction.’ Henry Miller
