Celestial Notebook Overview August 2007

The zodiac constitutes a cyclic process and six great purposes are being worked out in sequence: emergence from chaos (Aries and Taurus), unfoldment of its original potential (Gemini and Cancer) and expression of its potential (Leo and Virgo). Creative self-expression leads to a new level of experience and the stage of reorientation (Libra and Scorpio). The keyword for the Sagittarius and Capricorn mode of power is co-ordination, followed by the coming to seed that refers to the Aquarius and Pisces pairing.

That which emerged instinctually in Aries, the first fire sign is now ready for rebirth as the sun moves through the second fire sign of Leo: this is the time to rebirth into individuality and to express who we are becoming. Leo is about being true to the unfolding of ourselves and freely sharing that unfolding, how we harness our mental power to creatively express ourselves. (see Signs)

Self-expression will be curtailed however, as at the start of the month no less than five planets (half of the zodiac) are retrograde (seemingly reversing). The retrograde motion of any planet favours the interiorisation of consciousness: it is a time to be still, to digest our experiences so far, and to re-acquaint ourselves with who we are becoming.

Venus turned retrograde in the first degrees of Virgo and edges back into Leo on 9 August: our time-honoured attitudes about pleasure, attraction, partnership, self-worth and our spending habits are in for an overhaul. The Goddess of Love and Beauty’s journey into the underworld is never a comfortable one and compassion with ourselves and others is essential.

On 6 August Saturn, The Lord of Limitation makes a trine to Pluto, The Transformer: for one, brief shining celestial moment the principles of these planets are effortlessly brought together supporting us to live our new philosophy of interconnectedness and community spirit.

On 7 August Jupiter, the planet of faith, optimism and expansion turns to go direct after being in reverse since 6 April. An increase and expansion of consciousness is assured but often at a price. Jupiter is the voice of true destiny and as he moves forward he rolls out the green carpet of truth in front of him. Only that which supports us to follow our soul’s path will materialise.

Mercury makes the Jupiter function operative as it symbolises intelligence. During August Mercury speeds through Leo and Virgo refining our expressive powers as he cavorts along. When we are true to our self and live from our centre we have a natural direction and purpose to our life. This sometimes creates feelings of discomfort in others as it illuminates where they are stuck in role and duties. Allow them their discomfort as in the long run this will probably support them to be true to themselves. Become aware when the roles are reversed and you detect a discomfort within your self; take the necessary steps to get your self back into the natural flow of things.

The three outer planets, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto are all retrograde for the entire month. As it is, since Pluto entered Sagittarius (the sign of religion and our belief systems), all three the outer planets have been occupying the last four signs of the Zodiac, the universal signs as they are called – Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius and Pisces. These signs are linked to the spirit of the time, the climate and earth-shifts, inventions and matters that affect society at large.

Uranus the Enlightener is in Pisces: attunement to Uranus supports us to let the fear go and to open up to unforeseen opportunities in our work, our relationships and our other significant commitments; flashes of brilliance and insight thrusts us into new paradigms.

Neptune universalises and is in Aquarius: this planet dissolves boundaries and it connects us all as the Family of Humankind. It links into the rhythms of nature and rules oil which connects our time to a time of ancient forests.

Pluto transforms and regenerates: crisis, destruction and rebirth are its territory.

The combination of three planets which take us into fresh spaces in signs which give those energies universal distribution means multi-layered, world-wide change!

‘…we need to remain centred in our own integrity, follow the guidance of our hearts, and know that spirit is always working with us.’ Maya Del Mar
